11:49 AM  Paris, je t'aime (Paris, I love you) is a 2006 film starring an ensemble cast of American, British and French movie actors. The two-hour film consists of eighteen five-minute arrondissements (twenty were planned, but two fell through). Each arrondissement is written and directed by a different person. The directors include Walter Salles, Alfonso Cuarón, Tom Tykwer, Gus Van Sant, Wes Craven, Alexander Payne, Gurinder Chadha and Joel and Ethan Coen. The film had its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival on 18 May opening the Un Certain Regard selection. It had its Canadian premiere at the Toronto Film Festival on 10 September and United States premiere in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on 9 April 2007.[1] First Look Pictures has acquired the North American rights, and the film opened in the United States on 4 May 2007. 4:51 AM  Marty Stuart - Compadres: An Anthology Of Duets (2007) Artist: Marty Stuart Type: Album Year: 2007 Style: Country / Contemporary Country Country: United States Quality: CBR - 192 kbps / 44,1Khz / Joint-Stereo Size: 67,359 MB Glancing over the immense amount of talent represented on the fourteen tracks to Marty Stuart’s Compadres album gets the mind wondering about the vast array of legends that must litter his little black book of addresses. Not only does the album feature performances from some of music’s greatest nobility, it also boasts writing credits from the likes of Bill Monroe, Buddy Holly, Earl Scruggs, the Louvin brothers, and Johnny Horton. Instrumentally, it’s not bad either. On the third track Stuart reaches back over 30 years to pull a live recording of the Monroe original “Rawhide” with Lester Flatt. He was only fifteen years of age at the time and was already exposing his knack for greatness with his impressive mandolin picking. Every other number appeared on an album between 1990 and 2005 with the exception of the previously unreleased “Will You Visit Me On Sunday” with Loretta Lynn and “I Can See For Miles” with The Old Crow Medicine Show. The former is one of my favorites from the album along with “Crying, Waiting, Hoping” featuring Steve Earle and “Let Us Travel, Travel On” with Del McCoury. Elsewhere Stuart joins his former father-in-law, Johnny Cash, on “Doin’ My Time” and current wife of ten years, Connie Smith, for a riveting performance on “Hearts Like Ours”. It’s easy to take this album for granted since each song comes from a back catalog of music, but it really is one of the best releases so far this year. Big & Rich could take a note or two from Stuart on how to make so called “music without prejudice” while maintaining quality. 01. Farmers Blues (With Merle Haggard) 02. Adapted and directed from Stephen Trask's music and lyrics by John Cameron Mitchell, who also reprises the lead role of Hedwig, the flamboyantly unlucky victim of a botched sex-change operation, this is as good as a rock musical gets. The soundtrack follows the cast album pretty faithfully, except that the whole thing somehow feels turbocharged. Fast numbers like "Angry Inch" (with fab backup vocals by Miriam Shor) and "Exquisite Corpse" rock harder; ballads like "The Long Grift" and "Midnight Radio" are more poignant. The original off-Broadway cast recording was good, but now everything feels sharper, better defined. Even Hedwig's backing band, the Angry Inch, is beefed up by exHüsker Dü Bob Mould on guitar, while Girls Against Boys contribute to "Freaks," a track that would be right at home on an old David Bowie album. Even your punk pals will approve when they catch you listening to this musical. I was lucky enough to see them play live last week in Shepherds Bush and they were awesome, a must see, cant wait to see them in Cambridge in October. Highlights of this album well there are many delights, they have included two tracks from the Revenge of the King EP, Great Dictator (Of The Free World) & 6ft Down Blues, my personal favourites are Song Of Love/narayana, Shadowlands, Fool That I Am, but they are all good. The UK release is not until August, but its released in the US now, so its worth trying to buy an import early. Great return for the Kula Shaker boys, long may they run, buy the album, go see them, you won't be dissapointed!!!  A companion piece to classics used in the movies. There's feisty, blistering jamming with multiple horn textures and jangling guitars (the sizzling opening track "Candy"), easy grooving, melodic old school soul ("L.A. Citylights"), raw and thumping, brassy party singalongs ("Music = Love," the buoyant and breezy "Summertime") and even a scorching Latin/Caribbean island dance-along ("La Cabana") and a jaunt to Jamaica (the jumpy, lilting "Smokin' Gun"). She's always had a little of that classic David Sanborn touch in her sound, and that inspiration shines through on the low key, late night vibing of "11:58," one of a few rich ballads here. The dreamy, 70's jazz-soul trip "Soulsax" draws the listener back, ever so subtly, to the Earth, Wind & Fire style of balladeering. All of these add up to a truly inspired and energized date that gloriously brings Dulfer back to the hard hitting, emotionally compelling magic she achieved on her second album, 1993's Sax-A-Go-Go. She'd been a consistent hitmaker since then, but was never quite as freewheeling and playful as she was in the early days. In the intervening years, Dulfer developed from a strong natural pop player into a true jazz stylist and improviser, and the maturity shines through even as the party continues. Best of all, she thankfully pulls 180 degrees away from the over-the top electronic production of 2003's Right In My Soul, a disc which meant well but which covered her rich R&B and jazz heart with too much machinery. While Dulfer collaborates with longtime partners Thomas Bank and Ulco Bed, keyboardist, bassist and vocalist Chance Howard--a longtime member of Prince's band--adds an extra charge to the mix with the same bounce and fire that he added to her live performances in the mid-2000s.
