Rabbit Loves : Belle & Sebastian 8:50 PM

    .......................

Belle & Sebastian are a Scottish indie pop band formed in Glasgow in January 1996. After releasing a number of albums and EPs on Jeepster Records, they are now signed to Rough Trade Records in the United Kingdom and Matador Records in the United States.

While their early sound was commonly filed under "twee pop", a description the band have rejected, Belle & Sebastian have much in common with influential indie bands such as The Smiths and Felt, and also take in other influences, such as northern soul and funk, as well as a sense of irony and humour, that are not usually associated with twee. Audiogalaxy classified Belle & Sebastian music as chamber pop, as they used instruments not very common in pop such as flute, cello or trumpet.

The current members of the band are:

Stuart Murdoch: 1996–present (vocals, guitar and keyboards)
Stevie Jackson: 1996–present (vocals and guitar)
    Chris Geddes: 1996–present (keyboards)
    Richard Colburn: 1996–present (drums)
Sarah Martin: 1996–present (violin, keyboards, guitar, and vocals)
Mick Cooke: 1998–present (trumpet and bass)
Bobby Kildea: 2001–present (guitar and bass)

    Past members:

Isobel Campbell: 1996–2002 (vocals and cello)
    Stuart David: 1996–2000 (bass

Dear Catastrophe Waitress is an album by Belle & Sebastian, a Scottish indie pop group, released in 2003 on Rough Trade Records. Producer Trevor Horn, former member of The Buggles and producer of groups like Yes and Frankie Goes to Hollywood, oversaw the production of the album, and gave it a more polished, pop-friendly sound. This stood in sharp contrast with their previous lo-fi, folky albums (although songs like "Lord Anthony" hearkened back to their old sound.) In particular, the danceable, New Order-esque track "Stay Loose" proved to be the first in a series of songs (such as "Your Cover's Blown" and "Sukie in the Graveyard") that further diverged from their roots. Although this move alienated a few fans, the album was generally considered their best work since If You're Feeling Sinister by critics and was embraced by the majority of their fanbase.

The album was nominated for the 2004 Mercury Music Prize, while the song "Step into My Office, Baby" was shortlisted for an Ivor Novello Award in the Best Song category. Neither won.

    1. "Step into My Office, Baby" – 4:12
    2. "Dear Catastrophe Waitress" – 2:22
    3. "If She Wants Me" – 5:05
    4. "Piazza, New York Catcher" – 3:03
    5. "Asleep on a Sunbeam" – 3:22
    6. "I'm a Cuckoo" – 5:26

    8. "Wrapped Up in Books" – 3:34
    9. "Lord Anthony" – 4:14
    10. "If You Find Yourself Caught in Love" – 4:15
    11. "Roy Walker" – 2:57
    12. "Stay Loose" – 6:41
