Let U Go 2. I'm Better 3. Soundtrack To Your Life 4. Feel So Alive 5. Crazy Beautiful 6. Who Cares? 7. Shades Of Blue 8. Beautiful Lie 9. Perfect Now 10. Where Did You Go? 11. Along The Way 12. Apology DOWNLOAD At only 25 years old, Ashley Parker Angel was already a veteran of two reality-TV shows--2000's MAKING THE BAND, where he rose to fame as part of the boy band O-Town, and '06's THERE & BACK, which found the down-on-his-luck performer struggling to support his family, while attempting to establish himself as a solo artist. The result of the latter program, SOUNDTRACK TO YOUR LIFE, finds Angel making the pop/rock debut of his dreams with the help of big-time producers/songwriters, including Max Martin and the Matrix. Guitar-driven and undeniably catchy, these tunes fall into the Avril Lavigne/Ryan Cabrera vein, albeit with an admirable dose of sincerity, as on the soaring title track and the heartfelt "Beautiful Life." While SOUNDTRACK TO YOUR LIFE is far from groundbreaking, it marks the reinvention of a charming and refreshingly earnest singer. ....................... 2004 Ciara - Goodies 1."Goodies" (featuring Petey Pablo) 2."1,2 Step" (featuring Missy Elliott) 3."Thug Style" 4."Hotline" 5."Oh" (featuring Ludacris) 6."Pick Up The Phone" 7."Lookin' At You" 8."Ooh Baby" 9."Next To You" (featuring R. These Words (I Love You, I Love You) 2. Single 3. Unwritten 4. Silent Movie 5. Stumble 6. Peace Of Me 7. If You're Gonna... 8. Drop Me In The Middle - Featuring Estelle 9. We're All Mad 10. I Bruise Easily 11. The One That Got Away 12. Size Matters 13. Wild Horses Download Here Personnel include: Natasha Bedingfield (vocals); Paul Gordon (keyboards); Richard Flack (programming); Estelle. Recording information: The Phono Room, London, England. Much less dance-oriented than her brother Daniel's records, Natasha Bedingfield's impressive debut album is closer to a UK version of Kelly Clarkson's similarly masterful sophomore release, BREAKAWAY. Although UNWRITTEN unashamedly has its roots in mainstream chart pop--it's only degrees away from the likes of Jessica and Ashlee Simpson--Bedingfield's strong vocals (alternately flirty and commanding) and personal, quirky lyrics turn songs like "Single" and the title track into frothy but substantial gems, while the soaring opener "These Words" could well be the perfect summer single. Throughout, the production is pleasantly gimmicky, with neat touches like the slide guitar and echoed vocals in the intro of "Silent Movie," and most importantly, the songs don't sound like they've had all the personality focus-grouped out of them in the manner of so many similar records. UNWRITTEN is a startlingly good example of glossy, commercial pop music circa 2005, and a rebuke to those who feel that successful pop records must by definition be irritating fluff. ....................... 2006 The Hush Sound - Like Vines 1. We Intertwined 2. Dark Congregation, A 3. Sweet Tangerine 4. Lions Roar 5. Lighthouse 6. Don't Wake Me Up 7. Where We Went Wrong 8. Magnolia 9. Wine Red 10. Out Through The Curtain 11. Wendy House Download HERE ....................... 2004 The Donnas - Gold Medal 1. I Don't Want To Know (If You Don't Want Me) 2. Friends Like Mine 3. Don't Break Me Down 4. Fall Behind Me 5. Is That All You've Got For Me 6. It's So Hard 7. Gold Medal, The 8. Out Of My Hands 9. It Takes One To Know One 10. Revolver 11. Have You No Pride DOWNLOAD The Donnas: Brett Anderson (vocals, piano); Allison Robertson (guitar, background vocals); Maya Ford (bass guitar, background vocals); Torry Castellano (drums, percussion, background vocals). Recording information: Conway Studios, Los Angeles, California (2004). Though the Donnas' sound bears elements of punk (they did, after all, start out on Lookout Records, original home of Green Day) and garage rock, they've largely eschewed the trappings of either since the very beginning. As with their previous five records, GOLD MEDAL is simply a straight-up, no-frills rock & roll album, owing as much to the Runaways as it does to the Ramones. The Donnas have come off as tough girls since the beginning, and they don't soften their sound a bit here. Biting, primal guitar hooks, snarling vocals, and thundering, martial drums rage from start to finish, full of grit and fire, but streamlined to the bare essentials by Chris Lord-Alge's high-efficiency production. By refusing to bow to the genre specifications of pop-punk, alt-rock, or anything else, the Donnas craft a timeless edifice of rock & roll fury on GOLD MEDAL that's both eminently accessible and undeniably powerful. ....................... 2002 The Donnas - Spend The Night 1. It's On The Rocks 2. Take It Off 3. Who Invited You 4. All Messed Up 5. Dirty Denim 6. You Wanna Get Me High 7. I Don't Care (So There) 8. Pass It Around 9. Too Bad About Your Girl 10. Not The One 11. Please Don't Tease 12. Take Me To The Backseat 13. 5 O'clock In The Morning 14. Big Rig Download HERE This is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files. The Donnas: Brett Anderson (vocals); Allison Robertson (guitar, background vocals); Maya Ford (bass, vibraslap, background vocals); Torry Castellano (drums, percussion, background vocals). This is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files. At the risk of offending classicists, the Donnas are the great girl-punk group the Runaways were meant to be some 25 years earlier. Smartly, they avoid the codified copycat punk moves of the post-Green Day set and instead focus on the mid-'70s sound typified by the likes of the Ramones, the Dictators, and yes, the aforementioned rebel chicks. Accordingly, they manage the neat trick of beating the Strokes, Vines, etc. at their own game without even trying. As on their previous four (!) albums, the still-young Donnas provide a non-stop barrage of heavy guitar riffs, catchy-but-raw hooks, and plenty of pure punk energy. The fact that their pure punk/hard-rock sound never sounds contrived is a testament to the spirit and vitality that's lasted the group in such good stead throughout its existence. ....................... 2006 PAULA DeANDRA - PAULA DeANDRA Original Release Date: August 15, 2006 1. Waltz (Better Than Fine) DOWNLOAD Although I think this cd is wonderful, it really helped seeing her live to understand how she really feels when she is singing these songs. Once you have heard her live and all the emotions she brings to each song you can listen to the cd and just know how she is feeling even though the song itself might sound a little unemotional. You've just got to get in the mindset really. The words are very expressive but you definately have to hear her live to get the full effect. I wish she would release a live cd!! ....................... 1999 CHER - Cher Greatest Hits: 1965-1992 1. Oh No Not My Baby 2. Whenever You're Near 3. Many Rivers To Cross (Live From The Mirage) 4. Released in late 2006, HERE AND NOW finds country singer Darryl Worley on a new label (903 Music) and sporting a scruffier, long-haired look. With its more rocking, upbeat sound, the album leans a little bit towards Keith Urban, as well as Toby Keith, yet it still shows off Worley's own twangy, Tennessee-bred charm, most notably on the rollicking, defiant "Jumpin' Off the Wagon" and the lively, self-explanatory "Party Song." ....................... 1998 BILLY JOEL + THE VERY BEST OF CASSETTE 1: 1973-1977: 1. More More More 22. Pete Waterman Melody Remix DOWNLOAD FILE 1 FILE 2 FILE 3 In the days before "girl power" became slick and over-produced, Bananarama were exuberant and loveably brash. The Very Best of Bananarama starts at the beginning with their first hit (with Fun Boy Three), "It Ain't What You Do, where they mixed a punky attitude with uplifting Motown-inspired pop. As has been said, they had nearly as many hits as the Supremes, and this 22-track collection includes most of them. Their girl-next-door appeal was cemented by the fact that early songs such as "Robert De Niro's Waiting" and the deadpan "Na Na Hey Hey (Kiss Him Goodbye)" sounded like they were singing in a loo. In 1986 they had a complete overhaul when they linked fortunes with Stock, Aitken & Waterman and came up with such hi-energy classics as "Venus" and "Nathan Jones". By the early 1990s, line-up changes had taken their toll, and on songs such as "Movin' On", the Bananas sounded like a shadow of their former selves. Still, it was fun while it lasted. ....................... 2006 G4 - ACT THREE 1. Volare 2. Somebody To Love 3. Danny Boy 4. O Sole Mio 5. Amazing Grace 6. No Matter What - G4 & Stephen Gately 7. I Don't Like Mondays 8. Crazy 9. Cavatina 10. Toreador 11. Old And Wise 12. We'll Meet Again 13. Silent Night DOWNLOAD FILE 1 FILE 2 G4 have certainly come a long way since their days as London buskers and classical music students. With two highly-praised albums behind them (containing remarkable versions of songs like "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Everybody Hurts" and "You're the Voice", and classical covers that run from "Nessun Dorma" to "La Donna E Mobile"), the charismatic quartet known now deliver a third album of vocal showpieces. Once again they approach a quite dizzying array of songs – from Queen's "Somebody to Love" and the Boomtown Rats' "I Don't Like Mondays" to "Volare" and "Amazing Grace" - with impeccable confidence and a sense of stylish perfection. Act 3 contains several potential 2006 Xmas anthems, including a sublime rendition of "Silent Night", and the choice of songs, wonderful harmonizing and captivating arrangements (two tracks have been recorded with a big band) indicate a slightly more mature direction for the band in general. ....................... 1991 MADOONA - Immaculate Collection 1. Obvious 12. I'm Good 13. This Song 14. Outro 15. Torn - (So So Def remix, featuring Mike Jones/Rick Ross) DOWNLOAD As an original member of the phenomenally successful group Destiny's Child, LeToya's voice and face should be plenty familiar to fans of urban contemporary R&B. LeToya left Destiny's Child in 1999, signed with Capitol as a solo artist in 2003, and subsequently released the singles "U Got What I Need," "All Eyes On Me (with Paul Wall)," and "Torn." All of this created an effective build-up to LETOYA, the artist's full-length solo debut, which arrived in 2006. Containing all of the aforementioned singles, and a polished, hip-hop-inflected R&B sound that recalls Destiny's Child, LETOYA gives the singer's former bandmate Beyonce a run for her money. ....................... I'll Be Home For Christmas 9. Christmas Is Coming 10. Winter Wonderland DOWNLOAD ACAPELLA CHRISTMAS comprises ten carols from jazz vocalists The Manhattan Transfer, including "Winter Wonderland" and "White Christmas." Manhattan Transfer's stunningly tight-knit harmonies make a versatile palette for numerous styles of music. Since their emergence in the late 1960s the quartet has tackled post-bop jazz, doo-wop, R&B, adult contemporary, and standards from the American songbook. The Transfer brings all of these styles to bear on their 2006 collection of holiday tunes ACAPELLA CHRISTMAS. Lush, sweeping jazz arrangements grace a re-invented "White Christmas," while fingersnaps and "oo's" percolate under a bouncy rendition of "Winter Wonderland." The album is firmly rooted in tradition, but jazz aficionados will appreciate the group's challenging, complex vocal harmonies. ...................... Various Artists - Christmas Cocktails 1.
